Cross country recap: Women place fifth, Men ninth at Mountain Regional

The Colorado State men's and women's cross country teams hosted the NCAA Cross Country Mountain Regional Friday at Collindale Golf Course in Fort Collins. The CSU women took fifth place in the 20-team field, topped by team title winner Weber State. The men finished ninth in the 18-team field, which was topped by team title winner Northern Arizona. Junior women's runner Whitney Henderson took 20th place overall with a time of 21 minutes and 10 seconds for the 6,000 meter race, the top time for the women's squad. Following her were Holly Keeper (21:18.0), Sarah Heuer (21:30.5), Kaitlin Hanenburg (21:40.9), and Jennifer Tavé (21:55.2). The pack split for the women was just 45.2 seconds, a significant improvement from previous races. Sophomore men's runner Andrew Goodman took 43rd place in the 10,000 meter race, finishing with a time of 31:30.2 to lead the CSU men. Senior Andrew Lesser finished right behind Goodman in 45th with a time of 31:31.5, and freshman Jacob Morgan clocked in at 31:48.0 for the third best time on the men's squad. Rounding out the Rams' top five men's finishers were Alex Balsiger (31:53.0) and Christian Meyer (32:08.8). UTEP senior Risper Kimaiyo took home the women's individual title with a time of 20:10.8, while Texas Tech junior Kennedy Kithuka won the men's individual title with a time of 29:36.8.
